Welcome to the Middlebury Public Library’s 2024 Summer Reading Olympics! We are offering challenges for children, teens, and adults. We hope to see you this summer!

Elementary Reading Challenge

The Elementary Reading Challenge begins on Monday, June 17th! There are three reading challenges. Start with Australia, work your way up to France, and finish with the USA! Once you complete a reading challenge, visit the Library for a small prize and a chance to win one of three grand prizes (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) at the end of the summer. The last day to bring completed reading challenges to the library will be Wednesday, August 14th. Prizes will be drawn Friday, August 16th.

Middle/High School Olympics Bingo

The Middle/High School Summer Reading Olympics begin on Monday, June 17th! Visit the library to pick up your bingo sheet. Complete five challenges in a row to get a bingo! Each bingo equals one entry to win a prize at the end of the summer. Each bingo must be signed by a library staff member for entry into the prize drawing. Participants will also receive one color coordinated bracelet for each bingo completed and one pin for every color category completed. Return your completed bingo packet by Wednesday, August 14th to be entered to win a gift certificate. Winners will be drawn Friday, August 16th.

Adult Reading Challenge and Contest

Each month, adult patrons will be able to participate in challenges for gift card drawings. The first challenge is to find the Olympian hidden somewhere in the library, the next challenge will test your Olympic trivia knowledge, and the last challenge is estimating the number of gold coins in a jar.

Throughout June, July, and August, adult patrons can update their library card information in our system (email address, phone, address, etc.) to be automatically entered to win the Grand Prize drawing in August. Patrons who do not have a library card but live in Middlebury can stop in to receive a library card. Out of town patrons can update their library cards in our library or show us their hometown library card in order to enter to win the Grand Prize.
